Washer Dryer parts that most commonly break
The Washer Dryer Washing Element heats the water in the drum to a temperature that you select when setting your programme. This spare part is normally found beneath the drum. The element can easily break if it corrodes from lime scale. We recommend using descaling tablets once a month to prevent this from happening.
The Washer Dryer Drying Element is normally situated above the drum and is used in the drying stage of the Washer Dryer, This element heats the air that is sent into the drum to dry the clothes. If you find that your clothes aren’t drying then it is likely the heating element has gone.
Washer Dryer Control Knobs are used to select between different programs, this spare part can often break accidentally, more often than not it is the shaft on the control knob that breaks, this is a really easy part to fix yourself just requires you to swap it over.
Washer Dryer Belts go around the drum and around the motor. They are used to turn the drum around, if you find that your drum is not spinning but the motor is still running then it is likely that your belt has snapped. This is quite a hard part to fit it requires removing two or more panels and disconnecting the drum.
Washer Dryer Door handles are used to release the door from the machine, there are many parts to a door handle including the pecker and a spring. If the door wont open and the handle feels loose then it is likely that a component in the door handle has failed.
Washer Dryer carbon brushes are used to complete the circuit of electricity to the spinning motor without causing any friction, these carbon brushes are made from graphite and wear down over time.
The door seal of your washer dryer may need replacing after several year for one of two reasons, firstly the washer door seal can rupture causing a leak from the washer dryer. To prevent this care needs to be taken regally not to tear the seal when removing clothes that have sharp or abrasive parts. Also the seal can perish if the washer dryer is cleaned with corrosive chemicals. Another reason for replacing a door seal would be that mould is starting to grow in the creases.
Washer Dryer door interlock is an electronic component that stops the door from opening whilst the machine is on.  Unfortunately there is little that can be done to prevent this washing machine part from breaking. We stock many washing machine door interlocks for most leading brands and fortunately these parts are relatively cheap and easy to repair.
Washer Dryer door hinges are used as a pivot when opening the door these hinges are usually made from metal and plastic components, it is fairly common for a door hinge to break if an excessive load is rested against the open door.
Drum lifters are one of the most common parts to fail on a washer dryer. Drum paddles are found inside the drum, they are triangular prism shape; these are used to help the clothes move around the drum. Drum paddles often break when the washer dryer drum is overloaded or heavy item such as trainers or shoes are washed in them. The majority of drum paddles are easy to replace they just require you to clip them
