Hob Spares that most commonly break

Control knobs are usually found across the bottom or side edge of your hob. They are used to control the temperature of your gas flame or your heating plate. It is quite common for these control knobs to snap off or even the digits to fade or become misshapen in some way. These are very easy part to replace and generally just clip on and off.

For gas hobs it is common for people to replace the burner caps, burner caps are used to distribute the flame evenly. If you use specialist cleaning products such as ‘Oven Brite’ it can erode the enamel from the burner cap.

Pan Stands are usually cast iron parts that are used to support your pans whilst cooking. These can also lose their enamel over time, which will cause them to need replacing.
Ignition switches are used on gas hobs to create a spark. The spark is generated next to the burners in order to ignite the flame. If your flame is not igniting and you can hear the gas then it is likely that the ignition will need changing.

On electric hobs hot plates are used to heat the pots and pans up. On a ceramic hob the heater plate could be Halogen, radiant or semi-halogen, these are located under the heat resistant glass.
