Freezer Spares & Freezer Parts
Particularly during the summer months, freezers have to work overtime to keep your food frozen. Whilst modern freezers are generally reliable, the older they get the more likely they are to breakdown. Some freezers might simply need servicing, however your freezer may also require a replacement freezer spare part. The most common freezer parts to fail include the compressor, thermistor, control panels, defrost heater, door seal, and thermostats.

Freezer Parts that most commonly break
Freezer baskets or Freezer drawers are used to contain your frozen foods and can be slid out to access the contents. Freezer trays can be made from a metal basket, but most commonly are made from plastic. Plastic Freezer trays are most likely to break, crack or snap. Sometimes the Freezer basket can be broken down into two separate parts the basket front and the rest of the freezer basket.
Defrost heaters on a Freezer are a type of element that are used to melt ice. They do this by heating up at regular intervals to melt ice or frost surrounding it, the then melted ice runs down the back of the freezer into a tray sitting on top of the compressor, which then the heat from the compressor melts it.
Freezer door seals run around the edge of the door. It is magnetised and this magnetisation keeps the door closed, if the magnet inside the seal becomes weak then this can allow cold air to escape from the machine. A simple way to check that your door seal needs replacing would be to trap a piece of paper between the door and the freezer, if the piece of paper holds in place then the seal is working fine, if the piece of paper falls then the seal will need replacing.
The defrost timer is designed to run the compressor motor or the defrost heater but not at the same time. If your compressor is not running then it is likely that your defrost heater has malfunctioned. The defrost timer is usually located at the bottom of the freezer near the compressor.
